Last Sunday, Muscle Beach was honored to have IFBB Pro Silvio Samuel workout at the ’Weight Pen’. Silvio is training for the upcoming Mr. Olympia and the crowds were ecstatic to be able to watch his professional workout. The intense commitment of this IFBB Pro to his workout routine was recognized and acknowledged by the crowd at Muscle Beach. What a great opportunity…. What a great trend has been set for professional bodybuilders working out at Muscle Beach.

At the world’s most famous outdoor gym – known as the ”Venice Weight Pen” prior to official dedication as ”Muscle Beach Venice” in 1987, this is video footage of a workout with football player and weightlifter Malcolm Arnold (orange T-shirt) and Steve Ford (no shirt) enjoying what most people expect at Muscle Beach Venice — pumping iron with the fresh, ocean-mist air drifting by from the Pacific Ocean, just 100 feet away from the platform.

This is ”how it was” on typical weekend mornings at 9:00 a.m. before the Venice strand gets busy with visits from the crowds of locals, as well as tourists from around the world. In the modest ’Pit’ as the platform (built in 1951) was known, this was the setting before the City of Los Angeles rebuilt the facility in 1990 and unveiled the all-new facility that is in place at Venice today as ”Muscle Beach Venice”.
