Efter den femte och sista tävlingsdagen visade Ryssland sin överlägsenhet; damlaget vann med 555 poäng före Bulgarien på 466 poäng, och Polen med 456 poäng. Herrlaget vann med 594 poäng före Vitryssland på 579 poäng, bägge långt före Bulgariens herrar på 476 poäng.

”Hotel ”Slovakia” in Trencianske Teplice is the ”headquarters” of the Junior European Championships in Trencin, around 15 kilometres away.”

”To experience the European Championships, even if it is just for junior competitors, is (at first) just a dream. 143 boys and 66 girls from Slovakia and 35 other countries managed it this time. That is the first record in Trencin, without a weight even being lifted.”

”There is once again a (statistical) highlight! The Junior European Champion of the title fights in Slovakian Trencin was the recipient of a special gold medal – the 1´000th since the first Junior European Championships 1975 in Marseilles.”

”Gerta Suli has a particularly interesting background. She was born on 3rd May 1985 in Tirana. Her trainer is Argron Suli. The very fashionable lifter came fourth at the Senior European Championships 2004 and sixth at the Junior European Championships 2005. She also travelled to the Junior European Championships 2001 in Swedish Kalmar, but was not allowed to start as she decided just prior to the competition to stay in Sweden. She then lifted for two years for Helsingborks AK, was also Swedish champion in 2003. Now she has returned to her home country. We will surely hear more about her, as almost all young Albanian lifters, in the next few years.”

”This is now the fourth day of the European Juniors competitions and the strong Russian success continues by Anna Mokhina winning the 75 kg category for the women and Albert Kuzilov winning the bronze medal in the 94 kg category for the men. So far, the Russian women lifters have won five out of six possible category victories.”

”This was the fifth and last competition day and Russia demonstrated its leading position by winning the women´s team classification by 555 points, far ahead of Bulgaria with 466 points and Poland with 456 points. Russia also showed supremacy in the men´s team classification by reaching 594 points, Belarussia in second place achieved 579 points, both far ahead of Bulgaria in third place with 476 points.

We are already looking forward to next year´s European Junior Championships which will take place in Palermo, Sicily!”
