Quote:WORLD MEN’S CLASSIC BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY- It is rather new discipline in the IFBB history. The 1st World Men’s Classic Bodybuilding Championships was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 2006, in conjunction with the World Men’s Bodybuilding Championships.
- They were followed by the separately held events in Playa d’Aro (2007) and Kaliningrad (2008).
- Men’s Classic Bodybuilding was officially recognized as a new sport discipline by the IFBB Executive Council and IFBB Congress on November 27, 2005 (Shanghai, China).
- Classic Bodybuilding responds to the increasing worldwide demand for competitions for men who prefer, unlike today’s current bodybuilders, to develop a less muscular, yet athletic and aesthetically pleasing physique.
- Traditionally, the World Men’s Classic Bodybuilding Championships include also the World Fitness and Bodyfitness Cup: women’s fitness, women’s bodyfitness and men’s fitness.
- Classic bodybuilding currently includes four body height categories: 170 cm; 175 cm; 180 cm and over 180 cm.
- The bodyweight limits for those categories are:

Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] – 100) + 2 [kg]
2. Up to & incl 175 cm
Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] -100) + 4 [kg]
3. Up to 180 cm
Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] -100) + 6 [kg]
4. Over 180 cm
Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] -100) + 8 [kg]
A*. For competitors with the body height over 190 cm up to and including 198 cm the following formula will be used:
Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] – 100) + 9 [kg]
B*. For competitors with the body height over 198 cm the following formula will be used:
Max Weight [kg] = (Height [cm] – 100) + 10 [kg]
* – All of them participate in one category, Over 180 cm.The following athletes won the 2008 world champion title:
- Vladimir Kambarov (Russia) – up to 170 cm
- Vadzim Andreichyk (Belarus) – up to 175 cm
- Aleksander Denisenko (Russia) – up to 180 cm and overall
- Roman Plachinta (Russia) – over 180 cm
The best teams: Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland.
